Quora is hiring an AI Engineer to join the team building Poe, a fast-growing AI chat platform that connects users with cutting-edge language models like GPT-5 and Claude. You’ll design and scale advanced AI systems, build real-world LLM applications, and collaborate closely with product teams to enhance user experiences worldwide.

Table of Contents
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize large-scale applied LLM systems for search, recommendations, and multi-bot agents.
- Lead the design, deployment, and performance tuning of AI and ML workflows.
- Stay updated on the latest AI research and integrate new techniques into production.
- Collaborate across teams to deliver smooth, high-impact AI-powered products.
Minimum Requirements:
- Availability for meetings and impromptu communication during Quora’s “coordination hours” (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time)
- 4+ years of experience writing Python
- Strong foundation in data structures, ML algorithms, and software engineering principles
- Proven track record of tech leading NLP/Search models to solve industry-scale problem
- Proven track of strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify technical bottlenecks in complex systems
- Deep understanding of large language model APIs, prompt engineering, and LLM workflow design
- Comfortability taking projects from zero to one and owning the entire lifecycle, with a proactive approach to challenges
- Previous experience tech leading complicated end to end machine learning systems
- Experience with leading large-scale multi-engineer projects
- BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field
Preferred Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional experience working on natural language processing, language modeling, etc.
- Experience with generative AI research and applications.
- Shipped Gen AI/ML systems in production – AI agent, RAG, etc
- Experience of transformer models and LLM applications
- Flexible and positive team player with outstanding interpersonal skills
- Passion for Poe’s mission and goals

There are many factors that will determine the starting pay, including but not limited to experience, location, education, and business needs.
- US candidates only: For US based applicants, the salary range is $165,604 – $252,439 USD + equity + benefits.
- Canada candidates only: For Toronto and Vancouver based applicants, the salary range is $212,374 – $258,987 CAD + equity + benefits. For all other locations in Canada, the salary range is $198,216 – $241,721 CAD + equity + benefits.
